Sunday Blessings

One way for us to keep our hearts with diligence is to keep it filled with praise. Psalms 103 is a great way to focus our thoughts and praise to the Lord for all that He has done. May we enter worship Sunday with a heart filled with the praise of the Lord!

Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all our diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.

5th Sunday Night Sing

Tomorrow (Sunday) night at 6:00 will be a 5th Sunday Night Sing and Testimony time. This is always a blessed time for our church as we enjoy hearing church family share a song, talent or testimony. It builds one another up and brings encouragement in the Lord. You are encouraged to share also and to be a blessing! See Sis. Dianne for more information.
Following the sing we will enjoy a fellowship time complete with homemade ice cream and boiled peanuts. This annual tradition is a favorite for our church. So, plan to stay after the sing for a great time!

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable to God which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Since is was an adults only time, lots of fellowship went on...

There was even door prizes, isn't this wall hanging beautiful?

Then Dianne brought out this fantastic game - Apples To Apples, the girls LOVED it!

Choir Fellowship

The choir under the direction of first the Lord and under the leadership of Dianne M., has came a long way this year. The hearts of the choir have sought the Lord and are filled with His praise and the choir desires to minister in the church services with hearts overflowing with praise for the Lord. The choir understands the importance of this ministry and the preparation needed to do a good job as unto the Lord. So, practice is held each week and songs are gone over several times and much of the time, it is hard work!
Dianne and Rex wanted to have a time of fellowship for the choir at their home and were wonderful hosts recently for this time of fun for the choir. There are a lot of pictures, so another post will follow soon. Here are some shots of the beginning of the fellowship where the men gathered for some horseshoe competition and and ladies gathered for fellowship.

Youth News

The youth are excited about the new church year. They are planning to make church and church ministiries a part of their weekly schedule. Our church goal is that they grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and be prepared to be a witness for Him in the world they are in each day.
Some upcoming events are several service projects which demostrate the need to love and show care and concern for others by actions. A few fun outings will also be sprinkled in the plans.
To help raise needed funds for these upcoming activities a potato/salad bar will be held tomorrow (Sunday) after morning service. Please stay and help support our youth and enjoy a delicious lunch and some great fellowshp!

Our adopted missionaries are:

Some items that the Wedekinds could use are:
Bibles - (paperback, these can be purchased at the book store in town for .99 cents each)

Coloring books
Puzzle/word search books
Character pencils
Hair accessories
Stickers
Small toys (newborn to age 7)

Sermon Recap

Two weeks ago we heard a sobering and heart searching message on "Six Signs We Need To Return To God". In a day and time where we live and need to walk closely beside God, these questions are vital for Christians to evaluate their spiritual lives. Here are the six signs that we need to return to God: The sermon was based out of the book of Jonah and paralleled the actions and attitudes of Jonah to our modern day attitudes.
1. We ignore God's Word. Are we listening to what God is saying to us? God's Word will speak to us clearly.
2. Do we harbor hidden sins in our heart? Sin cuts off the flow of our fellowship with God.
3. Do we neglect our evangelistic responsibility? The church is under the "Great Commission", we are commanded to share the gospel message.
4. Do we decide to deliberately disobey God? When God speaks to us, He desires and expects obedience.
5. Have we ran from our calling? Some examples are things we know God wants us to do but, we never get started, or get started, but quit before the task is completed. Many times our passion or vision is what God has called us to do. Our responsibility is to continue to go on strong.
6. Do we disregard God's correction? Are we asleep or indifferent to God's correction? God disciplines those He loves in order to fulfill His will in them. This correction is done for our good.
If we see some of these signs in our lives, there is hope - I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us from our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Last Sunday we heard a message on God's heart when we do go astray. Highlights from this encouraging message will be posted soon.

Sunday Reflections

Over a couple of weeks, our church has laid to rest two devoted members. Marvin M. and Margaret B. have passed on to be with Jesus. We are rejoicing in the fact that they are in the presence of the Lord and in perfect health. It is with joy and thanksgiving that we look back with fond memories on their service and dedication to the Lord and to our church. A verse shared at Margaret B.'s funeral is a source of inspiration and encouragement for us as Christians and as we reflect on these verses, may God fill our hearts with thanksgiving for all that He is to us.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. I Corinthians 5:58

A prayer chain call went out today and we want to ask special prayer today for Carol Allison. She was taken to the hospital yesterday with shallow breathing. She was transferred to Gainesville where they have determined that she has pneumonia in one lung and an infection in one leg. They are doing further testing today. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.

Margaret B. - Now With Jesus

Many of you know Margaret B. who has been in poor health for quite a while now. Mrs. Margaret passed away this afternoon (Wednesday). We are thankful for the hope and promise of heaven for her and that she is no longer suffering, but filled with peace and joy. Our church will always cherish the memories of her hard work and dedication to the church when she was able to be a part there.
Please keep her family in your prayers and details will be posted as soon as they are available.

Pure Water, Pure Love

Our M&M kids have sponsored a mission project - Pure Water, Pure Love which provides water purifiers to allow missionaries and the people they serve to have clean drinking water. Each water purifier costs $250.00. Sunday morning it was announced that the amount raised so far was a little over $800.00. Thank you to each one for your generous donations and support of the M&M kids which worked for donations at home.
We will extend the opportunity to donate to Pure Water, Pure Love one more week. We lack around $194.00 being able to purchase 4 water purifiers and are hopeful to receive this amount by Sunday. Thank you for your support for the M&M's mission. God bless you!

Cell Phone vs Bible

I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?
What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets everywhere we went?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it to our kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?
This is something to make you go...hmm...where is my Bible?
Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cell phone, we don't have to worry about our Bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.
