This Week...

Happy Memorial Day!

May we take some time today to reflect with thanksgiving those who gave their lives for their country and prayer for their families.  May we also purpose in our heart to remember those in active service and commit to support them in our prayers.

This week there are several activities for you to be a part of!

 Tuesday night the softball team will play at 7:45 PM on Field 4.

Wednesday will be Family Meal at 6:00 PM, followed by ministries for the entire family.

Friday night at 7:45 PM on Field 4 will be another softball game.

Saturday is SHS graduation.  The family of Brian M. will host a party to celebrate from 3:00 - 5:00 PM.  All church family is invited to stop in and express your congratulations!

Please continue to lift up those on the prayer list, in the hospital and those who are recovering.  Ask the Lord to provide opportunities to be a blessing to those around you!

5th Sunday Night Sing

Remember Sunday night will be a 5th Sunday Night Sing!  This is always a blessing as the church is encouraged through those who share a talent, a testimony or a favorite Scripture.  God freely gives us gifts and talents and it brings Him glory when we use them to bless others.  Will you share Sunday night?

Following the sing there will be a time of refreshments in the fellowship hall.  Please prepare a finger food or dessert to share and let's enjoy some great fellowship time!

Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous!
         For praise from the upright is beautiful.
  Praise the LORD with the harp;
         Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
  Sing to Him a new song;
         Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Psalms 33:1-2

Brotherhood Tonight...

Men, remember the brotherhood meeting tonight at 7:00 at the church.  This is a time for men and boys to come together and grow in the Lord and encourage one another.  Come out and be ready for some great fellowship and sharing in the quest to be the man God has called you to be, leaders of our homes, church and community.

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

 He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

Psalms 1

True Faith:

Faith is the substance to stand under or a support.
Faith is to a Christian what a foundation is to a house.
Faith is an evidence to the soul - or inward conviction of God.

Three Things We Can Learn About Faith:

Without faith, we cannot be accepted by God.
Without faith, we cannot please God.
Without faith we cannot stand against the world.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.  By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.  Hebrews 11:1-3

May our faith continually be strengthened, renewed and growing.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Prayer Request

Please be in prayer for Rex Mc today.  Mr. Rex began feeling poorly yesterday and continued with heart symptoms through the evening.  After going to the hospital to get evaluated, it was determined that he suffered a heart attack.  He underwent a heart catherization and two stents were inserted.  He is in ICU at a hospital, but doing better and was given a good prognosis.  Your continued prayers for him and also for his family are appreciated.

This Week:

What a joy and blessing it was to be in God's house.  Yesterday was a beautiful service which began with a special surprise as Reuben, Kisha and their children sang a beautiful song for the church.  "It Is Well With My Soul" was sang and ministered to many hearts as we were reminded that our strength and hope lies in God alone and whatever is happening around us, we can say "it is well, with my soul".  God's Word was shared and the message was a reminder of the important part faith plays in our relationship to Christ.  Hearts were touched and encouraged and one moved their membership to Antioch and one shared a personal testimony of God's faithfulness.

Some prayer concerns were shared and you are encouraged to keep these lifted up in prayer and let these know of your love and care for them.

Aubrey H. is in the hospital with an infection.
Janet W.'s mother is still in the hospital.
Rex and Dianne Mc. are both battling sickness.
Dave B. will undergo surgery this week.
Lavon M.'s son will under go some testing this week.
Ida D. is having some issues with her eyes.
Kathy F.'s sister continues to need our prayers for strength and healing.

Thank you for your love, concern and prayers.

The men prepared a delicious breakfast for the women on Mother’s Day.  The fellowship hall was decorated beautifully, the food was delicious and there was a guest singer who blessed each one there with an encouraging word.  What a great Mother’s Day morning.  Thank you men!

Sunday School Cook-Out

Last weekend the adult Sunday School class had a cook-out.  There was a great turn out to enjoy a delicious meal and great fellowship.  Special thanks to Dave and Kathy B. for being gracious hosts.

The highlight of the day was for the kids as they were able to fish on the pond.  They had a blast throwing the rods, baiting the hooks and reeling in their catches.  Here are some scenes from the pond:
