New Year's Resolutions

New Year's Resolutions, although they have became a joke for many people, can be of real value. Resolutions can take the form of a goal or vision for the future or a way to establish guidelines for daily life. Here are seven rules for daily living which were practiced by the late F. B. Meyer:

1. Make a daily definite consecration of yourself audibly to God.
2. Tell God that you are willing to be made willing about everything.
3. Reckon on Christ to do His part perfectly.
4. Confess sin instantly.
5. Hand over to Christ every temptation and every care.
6. Keep in touch with Christ. Read the Bible and quality inspirational books, pray and seek places and people where He is.
7. Expect the Holy Spirit to work in, with and through you.

How wonderful it is to know that God is the Lord of time and that He will be until the stream of time is swallowed up in the ocean of eternity!

Family Meal and Movie

You are invited to share a special New Year's Eve fellowship with the church family. Thursday night at 6:00 PM we will gather to enjoy a meal together. You are asked to bring a pot of soup, chili or a finger food or dessert to share. Following the meal, we will watch a family Christmas movie together. You won't want to miss this special time! There are not any plans to bring the New Year in at church, so you will be home in plenty of time to see the New Year in with your family!

The Mission of the Savior

As we close out another year and have cherished Christmas memories in our hearts, here is a reminder that Jesus came with a mission.

3 Reasons Christ Came:

1. Christ came to do the will of God by qualifying Himself to be our substitute. Through Him, we have been sanctified once and for all.

2. Christ came to save His people from their sins. "For all have sinned...", and each one needed a Savior. Jesus came to save from sin.

3. Christ came to gather all God has called to believe. It is God's will for all to come to repentance and call on His name.

Isaiah 61:1-4

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

Christmas Week

What a glorious week this is as we celebrate and move quickly to Christmas Day. This is just a short reminder that there will be no church services this week.

A few prayer requests for you to keep close to your heart are:

Several of our families which are traveling for the holidays. Please pray for safe travels for them.

Janet W.'s mom is struggling with illness and is going into possible renal (kidney) failure.

Felton and Mary Lou's daughter Lori is again facing a battle with cancer. Please pray for Lori and the family.
