Men's Softball - True Winners

Our men and boys joined the church softball league this spring. The competition was fierce and although statistically our team did not do well - they are true winners. They carried themselves with dignity and integrity through some rough game losses. They kept their heads up and held on to good attitudes. "You learn more about yourself through losses than through wins".
Antiochs's fans cheered and encouraged them through the season and enjoyed the fellowship and sport of men's softball. Our fans are the best!!
Friday night July 31, there will be an end of season get together for the team and their families at the church at 7:00 PM. Please pass the word around to our team. This will be a covered dish meal and a great time of fellowship!

Brotherhood Prayer Meeting

The Brotherhood (Men's Ministry) is moving forward and our church is excited to see this ministry grow. Tuesday night at 7:00 a cottage prayer meeting will be held at Mike M's home for all men. All men are invited and encouraged to come, seek the Lord in prayer and enjoy fellowship and encouragement to be godly leaders of our homes and church.

Special Prayer Requests

There are a couple of prayer needs to share for some in our church family.
Eva H. had surgery today. Your prayers for a good recovery will be appreciated.
One of the families in our church is undergoing some very difficult circumstances. Your prayers for the family, for wisdom and God's grace and strength to be with them and your love and support for them are needed.
Remember our mission trip as they are in the midst of working on various ministry areas - prayer walking, witnessing, VBS etc..
Colossians 3:13 -14 "Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection."

Around the Church...

Here are a few happy things to share...around the church...
Lisa and Lowell are expecting a baby BOY! Congratulations to their happy family. Lowell is recovering from a bout of pneumonia, please keep him in your prayers.
Buddy and Liz spent a few days relaxing on a vacation get-a-way! Hope they come back relaxed and refreshed.

Although every birthday is special, last week we had two "special age" birthdays. You know those ages that are milestones in life..Anita B. turned 30! Her husband Scott invited the church to celebrate with them Wednesday night with cake and refreshments. Everyone enjoyed the celebration and wishes Anita a great year!
Matt F. turned 18 last week and entered the world of adults!
Hanna R. will turn 15 this week and will enter the driving world!
The Boomerang Express is pushing full steam ahead this week. If you have not been a part of Vacation Bible School, you are missing a treat. Make plans to come this week. Thank you to all who are helping out and making this year's VBS a success!
Around the church is a way to share with one another happy things going on in the lives of the church family! If you have some news to share, please email Joyce and we will celebrate with you!

Happy July 4th...

“Fear God and honor the government.”
-1 Peter 2:17 (TLB)
On this Independence Day we should be on our knees thanking God for all He has given us. The United States is a country in which everyone has an equal opportunity. Thank God for a country where there is no caste or class to keep a man from going to the top. If a man has a will to work and study, he can go ahead regardless of his background. In addition, thank God, He has given us freedom of religion. Whatever you may believe, no one can close your church because your religion does not coincide with his. A few people meeting in a small, out-of-the-way shack, worshiping God as they believe in Him, have the same right to religious freedom as the people who worship God in the great cathedrals on the avenues of our greatest cities.
Prayer for the day
Thank You, God, for allowing me to live in the greatest, grandest, and most free land the world has ever known.
