Sermon Recap

We are currently in a sermon series on How To Handle Life's Difficulties. Recently we learned some truths about wisdom.

3 Truths About Wisdom

1. Crisis intensifies our need for wisdom.
We need true wisdom to handle our crisis.

2. God is our only source for true wisdom.
God knows everything, our thought and intents. Gaining wisdom is a process. Through years of reading, studying and implementing God's Word, wisdom is gained. Faith is a tool in this process. Begin where you are and invest in reading the Bible, attending church, applying Christian principles, this is the path of wisdom. Long term dedicated study yields wisdom for all circumstances.

3. Godly wisdom leads directly to godly action.
True wisdom will lead us to the correct action for our crisis.

Update on Zoe

So many of us are so concerned about the surgery for Baby Zoe and the family appreciates that so much. Here is an update from one of the family:

"I just spoke with Aunt Ann. They got all of the cyst out and are sewing her up now. She said they had a rough start administering the IV, but thank God it's over. They have not gotten to see her yet, but it shouldn't be too much longer now. They were told to expect a good amount of swelling, but assured that she will be fine! Praise the Lord!"

Thank the Lord for His graciousness.

Sermon Refresher/Prayer Request

Please remember Baby Zoe today as she is undergoing extensive surgery to remove a cyst on her forehead. Please pray for her family and for wisdom for the doctors.

Last Sunday we heard a relevant message on Biblical counseling.

Here are six questions to help us with the counsel we give and receive.

1. Is it Biblical? We can only discern Biblical wisdom by knowing God's Word. Personal opinions do not give true counsel, only the Bible is the source of true counsel and wisdom.

2. Is it factual? Check out and know all the facts about the situation. Don't go on assumptions.

3. Is it necessary? Use very few words, sometimes the best counsel is given by just being there as a support to someone.

4. Is it teachable? Lessons learned from previous experiences can be passed on or shared.

5. Does it acknowledge the imperfection of human counsel? The wisest counsel may be to acknowledge that we do not know everything. Only God is perfect.

6. Is it spoken in love? If advice given is Biblical, factual and necessary, it will never be listened to if it is not spoken in love. God's Word tells us to "speak the truth in love." Without love, our words are compared to a clanging symbol.

Hurting people long for answers and many times, answers are hard to come by. In times of difficulty, we can go to God's Word. It provides comfort and strength that we can draw from. Look to Him for direction always.

Sermon Refresher

Last Sunday we were encouraged by the sermon entitled: Choosing Faith In the Midst of Suffering.
A question we were to ponder was "How will we respond when our world caves in?" Will we choose faith?
Here are a few things that choosing faith will NOT do for those going through suffering.
1. It will not eliminate pain.
2. It will not stop the questions.
3. It will not create a logical reason for the suffering.

Suffering does not always make sense. Suffering does not discriminate - it affects all ages, races etc. Financial situations or prosperity is not exempt from suffering.
But the only option is to choose faith.
Here are a few things that choosing faith WILL do in the midst of a trial.
1. It will remind you that God is in total control.
2. It will be a rare and precious gift to God - the precious sacrifice of praise is true worship.
3. It will bring you closer to God. The road of suffering draws us closer to God.
God loves you and can work His good through any circumstance - good or bad.
Remember always to "Choose Faith".

Youth Alive!

Last weekend some of our youth went to a revival especially geared toward youth. They came away from the revival - REVIVED! Some of the young people spoke last Sunday night and shared about what the Lord put in their heart through the revival. They began speaking of things like - Revival, Service, Unity, Love, Witnessing. What a blessing it was to hear these things coming from the teenagers. One of the youth leaders spoke about the revival also. He shared about the Holy Spirit doing a work through the teenagers and what a blessing this is for our church.
Please consider this an encouragment to the church family to keep our teens in your prayers. Please pray for God's work to continue in their hearts and expand into the lives of other teens and through our church. Please pray for opportunities for the youth to share their faith, to stand firm in their convictions and to be led through these critical years in the paths of the Lord.

Here are a few links for some Irish recipes:

Baptism

Baptism is a beautiful picture of the death, burial and ressurection of Christ parallelled in the Christian life.
Romans 6:4 :"Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
When a person accepts Christ as their Savior, they put to death the old sinful nature, they rise in Christ's forgiveness and begin a new life moving forward in the newness of life in Christ. In our church family, we rejoice over baptism and the new life it portrays.

Please keep these and always one another in your prayers for continued growth in the grace and knowledge of God.

Annie Armstrong Offering

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When people give to the offering, 100 percent of their gift will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. Time and again our missionaries relate how the offering is their lifeblood. They know that behind each penny given, there is a Southern Baptist who believes in what they do and are affirming the need to equip them to share the gospel with those who need a Savior.

Fast Facts about the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering:
The reason we give to AAEO: To help our missionary force reach for Christ an estimated 251 million lost people in the United States and Canada; that's three of four people.

Amount of AAEO used to support missionaries and their work:
100%

Number of NAMB missionaries:
More than 5,500. Generally, a third of the number represents career missionaries, a third are short-term funded missionaries, and a third are Mission Service Corps missionaries.

What do AAEO-supported missionaries do?
Start new churches
Engage in student evangelism on college campuses
Serve the physical and spiritual needs of people through inner-city Baptist centers
Serve in local Baptist associations as associational missionary or other mission staff
Provide training and ministry in apologetics (interfaith witness) evangelism
Minister in resort settings such as campgrounds and ski areas
This week is set aside as the Week of Prayer For North America Missons.
Vist the NAMB daily for a missionary to pray for.
