Prayer Requests

There are a couple of prayer requests/updates to share.

Mary Lou R. is still fighting infection
Felton R. will undergo some testing soon.
Roy L. is recovering from back surgery.
Kathy B.'s son is battling an infection.
Ross W. is having oral surgery today to remove his wisdom teeth.
Rex and Dianne's granddaughter is undergoing testing for possible lymphoma.  The results will take several days, please keep the family in prayer as they anxiously await the results.  May God's peace and strength keep them during this time.

Youth will be going on an outing tomorrow, please pray for safety and boldness as they pass out water and tracts.

This Week...

We are thankful for the blessings of last week which included our  mission team arriving home safely and sharing some powerful testimonies of how God worked in their recent ministry.  We are thankful for some of our church family who are recovering from surgeries and illness and for the opportunity to rejoice with a baby shower for one who is eagerly expecting!

This week will bring some great opportunities also.  The church softball team will play  Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights.  The youth will be going on a trip to the beach to pass out water, Christian tracts and have the opportunity to share Jesus.  Any youth interested in going, should contact Mrs. Liz.  

Brotherhood usually meets the last Tuesday of the month, but there will not be a meeting this week.  Meetings will resume in August.  

Please remember one anther in prayer and to encourage each other in the Lord!

This Weekend...

The mission team is traveling home today (Friday).  Please pray for safe travels and rest and recuperation and a renewed passion for the things of the Lord.  The team will be sharing Sunday morning about the mission.

Remember also the baby shower for Crystal which will be Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the fellowship hall.

Congratulations to the softball team on their victory last night!!  Looking forward to next week where the team will  be playing 3 times!!

Prayer Request and Updates

Youth Service Project

Recently one of our church ladies needed some extra help in her yard. Our youth took this on as a service project.  They spent a few Wednesday nights helping out.  Way to go youth!

This Week!

It's a new week....full of summer activities and also prayer needs and opportunities to be a blessing!

Please keep close in your thoughts and prayers:
  • The mission team as they minister in Kentucky.
  • Praise the Lord for Bro. Dave being released from the hospital to rejoin the mission team.
  • Felton R. who will have a heart cauterization tomorrow.
  • Mary Lou R. who is still recovering from an infection.
  • Crystal (their granddaughter) who has been going into early labor.  The doctors want to hold off just a little while longer.
  • Ida D. who is recovering from surgery.
  • Dave B. still recovering from knee surgery.
There will be two softball games this week - Tuesday at 7:00 PM and Thursday at 8:15 PM.
Youth will travel to a local spring to pass out water and tracts on Friday.  Donations of bottled water would be appreciated!

Let's be thankful for sweet summertime and look for ways to show our love and support to one another!

Update On Pastor

Bro. Dave is doing well today (Sunday).  He continues to feel better and is expected to be released from the hospital today and will join the mission team for the rest of the week.  Thank you for your continued prayers for Bro.Dave, the mission team and mission area.

Update on Bro. Dave

The report Saturday night finds Bro. Dave doing better.  His blood pressure is down and he is feeling better.  He will stay overnight in the local hospital and will undergo a test tomorrow.  Further treatment will depend on the test results.  Please continue to keep him and the mission team in your thoughts and prayers.

Prayer Request

There are a few prayer requests to make you aware of.

Pastor Dave is away on a mission trip and was taken to the emergency room last night.   His blood pressure was up and there were some heart issues.  Currentl he is on a nitro patch, his blood pressure is down and his enzymes are leveled out.  They are currently deciding on a plan of treatment for him.  Please pray for Bro. Dave and his family and for wisdom for his treatments.  Updates will be posted here as they become available.

Felton R. had a stress test yesterday and did not do well on it.  He will undergo a hearth catherization Tuesday.  His wife Mary Lou is fighting a severe infection and is now running a fever.  Their grandaughter Crystal has been going into early labor which they have successfully stopped for now.  Please keep this family in your prayers and may we as a church family reach out and let them feel our love and support.

Mission Trip 2010

The mission team departed early this morning!  They will return next Friday.  Through the week you are encouraged to pray for each one, for the trip to Kentucky and for a good response from the ones the team is going to minister to.  There are five from our church that are on the trip. 

Ways to Pray
Pray for the safety of all the team members and their families.
Pray for the health of the team members.
Pray for God to use the team in a unique way.
Pray for God's guidance.
Pray that God would have His way in the lives of the team members.
Pray for team unity.
Pray for the people the team will be ministering to – especially for their lives to be impacted by the team toward faith in Christ.

Prayer Requests

There are several in our church who we are requesting prayer this week:

Crystal F. who is pregnant with six weeks remaining is having a few complications with early labor.  The doctor would like her to wait at least two weeks before going into labor.  She is home and your prayers are appreciated for her and the baby.

Mary Lou R. is still recovering from surgery and is suffering from an infection that they are treating her for.

Ida D. had back surgery last week and is now home recovering.

Dave B. recently had extensive knee surgery and is in the hospital having a procedure done on his knee followed by some therapy.

Margie H. suffered a severe wasp sting near her eye and is in much pain and discomfort. 

Please keep these near in your thoughts and prayers.

Keeping America Great

I Timothy 2:1-4:  Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,  for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,  who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

 The Founding Fathers sought God's Word and laid the country's foundation on Christian and Biblical principles.  How can we today keep those principles alive?

1.  Pray For America:
The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.  May we be diligent and purposeful in prayer for our nation.

2.  Live Righteous Lives:
Lives that are reverent to the things of God, striving for godliness and to be pleasing to God.  May we live according to the standards in God's Word.  "Righteous exalts a nation", but sin has disgraced our nation.  As Christians we must purpose to live our lives righteously.
3.  Share Christ:
Change will come one heart at a time.  If we will not be the Christian witness, who will?  If God lives in us, He should show through our lives clearly to a lost and dying world.  They should see a distinct difference between our lives and the lives of those in the world.  May He shine through us.

New Week

Last week was a whirlwind week with Vacation Bible School, a couple softball games and Family Night which was well attended rounding out the week.

This week there will be no softball games, but you are encourage to make mid week services.  There will be classes for children and youth Wednesday beginning at 7:00 PM and business meeting will be held in the sanctuary for the adults to stay abreast of church business.  

The mission team which will be ministering in Kentucky will be leaving at 5:00 AM Friday morning.  There are five from our church going along with several more from area churches.  Your prayers are appreciated for safety and productive ministry.  

You are encouraged to keep one another in your prayers, a few are recovering from surgery, and some are traveling out of town.  May we always be on the look out for ways to minister and be a blessing to one another!

Vacation Bible School

What a wonderful week of VBS!  There were lots of children to experience Saddle Ridge Ranch!  The kids learned lessons about God and His love for them, they learned about missionaries serving Him, they enjoyed making creative crafts and snacks and praising  the Lord through song and actions!  Sunday at 6:00 PM will be Family Night.  All family is encouraged to come out and see the great things that went on through the week.  Following the service, a time of refreshments will be served.  Please plan to bring a finger food or dessert to share!

VBS Prayer for Friday

Pray for the leaders who are preparing snacks each day.  Ask for a special blessing on all the snacks prepared and the workers.

VBS Prayer for Thursday

Pray for those making follow up visits to clearly share the gospel.

Pray for creativity and patience for those working in the crafts rotation.

Pray that children will make their attitude like that of Christ. 

Youth Have Big Plans...

There are some great things planned for the youth  this weekend:

Saturday: 
Youth Pool Party at the home of Joe and Georgette.  Bring your bathing suits 
and be prepared for a great time of fellowship and fun!  Time:  6:00pm - 10:00pm 
Sunday - After church...in the fellowship hall...Pizza, popcorn and 2 
movies!!!  Toy Story 1 and then Toy Story 2!!  Bring your favorite 2-Liter 
drink and a comfy chair.  Beanbag chair, beach lounge chair or your ballgame 
chair!
Monday - Toy Story 3!  Short rode-trip to Valdosta!  Leave the church 
at 3:30pm.  Gotta take a vote on 3-D or regular showing of this great movie!  
Prices are $9.00 for the regular and $13.50 for the 3-D!  Trip to Chik-Fil-A or 
Firehouse Subs afterwards!  Maybe Bruester's!!!!  YUM! 
All youth are invited and encouraged to join in the fun.

Bicycle Festival Rest Stop

In March our church was a stopping point for the Azalea City Bicycle Tour to rest and receive some refreshments.  Our youth stepped up to the challenge to meet this need and many of our church family provided snacks that were nutritious along with notes of encouragement and filled with Scripture for the bicyclists.  There was a good turn out of youth and adults to provide this ministry to the bicyclists.   Here are some pictures from that day.

Wednesday VBS Prayer

Pray for those who lead music and the Worship Rally.  Ask God to give them energy that will excite kids to learn through music and drama.

Ask God to bless the follow-up efforts to contact every prospect and invite them to join other church activities.

Just a reminder to share that two from our church family had recent surgery.  Mary Lou R. and Ida D. had surgery within the last few days.  They are doing well, but your prayers and expressions of concern and care would be appreciated.

Beginning Monday, Antioch will be hosting Vacation Bible School which is an opportunity to bring children in for fun, games and biblical teaching.  Prayer is essential for VBS to be fruitful.  Each day this week a prayer point will be posted.  Please keep VBS, the workers and most importantly the children in your prayers!

A prayer update that was shared last night...Carol A.'s brother passed away.  Carol's children will be flying up north to attend the services.  Your prayers for comfort for the family and safe travels are deeply appreciated.

Baby Shower

This Sunday afternoon at 3:00 in the church fellowship hall, the family of Crystal F. will be hosting a baby shower for Crystal who is expecting a baby boy.  "Baby Ragon" is expected to arrive August 26, but seems to be a little anxious to meet his family!  Crystal is registered at Targett if you need gift suggestions.  The Church family is cordially invited to celebrate with Crystal and her family.

Mission Trip Donations

Recently a sign up sheet was passed around to receive donations of food to take on the association wide mission trip.  The deadline to receive the items will be this Sunday to enable the items to be packed and ready for the trip. 

The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board if you need a reminder of what to purchase, and you may also check your items off when you turn them in.  There is a box set up to receive the donations.  Thank you for your support.
