See You At the Pole
For over 25 years, See You at the Pole has been about one simple act—prayer. SYATP is still about students uniting themselves in prayer before God interceding for their generation. SEE YOU AT THE POLE day is on Wednesday, September 27, at 7:00 a.m. local time. All around the globe, in every time zone, students will be gathering at their flagpoles, praying for their school, friends, families, churches, and communities. SEE YOU AT THE POLE is a day committed to global unity in Christ and prayer for your generation.
How You Can Pray
Pray for:
- your school’s event starting now, right up to the day of See You at the Pole™.
- the students who are leading and planning your See You at the Pole™ at your school.
- the Christians at your school to show up ready to pray on See You at the Pole™ day.
- the non-Christian students on your campus who will see or hear about SYATP.
- Christian students on your campus to make the most of this unique opportunity to explain what happened on the morning of See You at the Pole™ and to be a witness for Christ.

Christians, Please Stop Doing This!
For those who have walked with the Lord faithfully, some of these things may slip in with good intentions. Here is a list of things it may be better for us to avoid. Maybe lay aside our own good intentions to allow God to flow and reign in all things.
1. Telling people “I’ll pray for you” without actually praying for them.
There probably isn't anybody who hasn’t done this at one time or another. And while most of us don’t actually mean to forget, it may be best that we just set aside time on the spot to pray for people. We need to make sure we are fulfilling our duties as Christians and actually follow through with them. One prayer could be the tipping point to someone coming to know the love of God. Don’t miss the opportunity to speak life into someone because you don’t think you have time.
2. Attending Church on Sunday, but ignoring God’s voice the rest of the week.
Ouch! This one stings a little. Many of us get in the habit of making God just another addition to our weekly check-list, but the reality is that our entire lives should revolve around him. God deserves #1 priority in each of our lives, and to treat him any differently would go against the foundations of the Christian faith. Evaluate the way you are spending your time, money and energy. If you want to see a change in your life then you need to begin giving God the place of honor he deserves.
3. Praying for God’s provision when we have yet to use what he has already provided.
Prayer was given to us as an open line of communication between us and God, but the harsh reality is that way too many of try to use it like a drive-thru at a fast-food restaurant. We don’t get to pick and choose the way God provides, but we do get the opportunity to trust His plan and have faith in His promises.
4. Trying to be so relevant that we actually hurt the message of Jesus.
There is nothing wrong with trying to be relevant, but we need to understand that there is a BOLD line between being trendy, and then completely disfiguring the message of Jesus. We can’t expect to bring any change to the world when we don’t look any different from it.
5. Telling people that “God will never give you anything you can’t handle.”
Why should we stop saying this? Because doing this we've twisted 1 Corinthians 10:13, as this verse is pointing toward temptation, and even then it states God will be there if things get too tough. The reality is that God just might give us things we can’t handle so that we will gaze toward Him for the extra help. Realize that not everything is going to go the way you plan, think or hope. Sometimes stuff is going to hit the fan, and in order for you to get through it, you are going to NEED to rely on God’s comfort, peace and understanding. We weren’t meant to do life alone.

There will be services held on Thursday at Antioch with a viewing at 10:00 AM and the funeral at 11:00 AM. Following the funeral lunch will be served for the family. All church friends and family are encouraged to bring food to share for the lunch. This is a ministry Antioch is known for that brings much comfort to the family.

Ladies Bible Study Begins Wednesday
Our fall ladies Bible Study begins Wednesday! The study is "Becoming a Woman of Influence" by Carol Kent.
If you have your book, be encouraged to begin reading Chapter 1. Here is a little quote about what the study is about:
"What would happen if you decided to influence live on purpose? Not because we have to but because we want to. Not because it is our Christian obligation, but because it brings great meaning and joy to our lives. Not because of duty, but because of love. Let's be like Jesus. Let's be women of conviction and passion. Let's intentionally influence other women because it is a high calling and a part of our pre-designed purpose."
Are you ready? Study will begin Wednesday at 6:30 PM and we will be meeting in the sanctuary. Hope to see you then!
Choosing Faith in the Midst of Suffering
Sunday's sermon was on Choosing Faith in the midst of suffering. There was a powerful breakdown of three things Choosing Faith won't do and three things it will do.
Choosing Faith Will NOT:
Choosing faith in the midst of suffering will not eliminate the pain.
Choosing faith in the midst of suffering will not stop the questions.
Choosing faith in the midst of suffering will not create a "logical" reason for your suffering.
Choosing Faith WILL
Choosing faith in the midst of suffering WILL remind you that God is in control.
Choosing faith in the midst of suffering will be a rare gift to God.
Choosing faith in the midst of suffering will bring you closer to God.

Maquire State Offering
Florida Baptists look to the month of September as a time of awareness, reflection and prayer for the great opportunities God has presented them in the state.
The 2017 State Mission Offering will be totally dedicated to funding new initiatives in South Florida through a partnership between the Florida Baptist Convention and North American Mission Board. This re-launched partnership calls for a greater Kingdom vision with more engagement, more commitment and more involvement to reach three South Florida counties—Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach—where more than one-third of the state’s population resides.
Why a state mission offering? Because 75 percent of Florida’s 20 million population—15 million—do not have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. With more than a third of the population in Florida, 95 percent of South Florida’s population is unchurched.
State Goal: $830,000
100 percent of the State Mission Offering will be earmarked for church planting, church revitalization and church restarting in South Florida.
